Handcrafted Centrepieces Celebrate Trades and Support Important Causes

NAWA trade sculpture centrepieces

One of the standout features of the Australian Apprenticeships Stakeholder Luncheon during National Apprenticeship Week Australia was the stunning centrepieces that adorned each table.

These weren't ordinary decorations - they were unique clay sculptures, each one handcrafted to represent a specific trade. From electricians to plumbers, carpenters to mechanics, over 26 different trades were celebrated through these bespoke ceramic pieces, highlighting the diversity and skill within the apprenticeship sector. See them all here.

The sculptures were commissioned by MIGAS Apprentices & Trainees and created by talented artists from Monte Lupo Arts, an initiative operated by Multicap. Monte Lupo offers beautiful handmade ceramic and textile artworks and homewares while providing meaningful employment opportunities for people living with a disability.

Each piece created is one of a kind - full of character and made even more special by the story behind them.

The centrepieces served as powerful symbols throughout the luncheon. Like apprentices themselves, each sculpture represented skill, individuality, and opportunity. No two pieces were exactly alike, reflecting the unique journey every apprentice takes in their chosen trade.

But these beautiful artworks weren't just for display. Guests at the luncheon had the opportunity to purchase the centrepieces, with all proceeds being donated to TIACS - a free mental health counselling service dedicated to supporting people in blue-collar and trade industries, providing vital support to the very workforce being celebrated during National Apprenticeship Week.

There was a great response on the day, with many sculptures finding new homes with guests who recognised the value of supporting both Monte Lupo's artists and TIACS's crucial mental health services. However, some remain available for purchase.

If you're looking for a unique artwork for your office or home - something that tells a story and gives back to important causes - these one-of-a-kind ceramic trade sculptures are still available through the National Apprenticeship Week online shop. The cost of $250 per sculpture includes free postage within Australia.

With only 26 original sculptures created and no two the same, it's very much a first in, best dressed opportunity. Each purchase supports the artists at Monte Lupo Arts while contributing to mental health services for tradies through TIACS.

These centrepieces perfectly captured the spirit of National Apprenticeship Week - celebrating trades, supporting workers, and recognising that every individual brings something unique and valuable to their craft.
