TAFE Queensland Street Party Celebrates Apprentices During National Apprenticeship Week

National Apprenticeship Week 2026 was in full swing when TAFE Queensland's Acacia Ridge campus hosted a vibrant Street Party.

The event, held on 11 February 2026, brought together apprentices, industry partners, and supporters for a morning of celebration and connection that truly embodied the spirit of the week.

The Street Party was designed to "give a shout" to the apprentices and trainees who are building the future of Australia's skilled workforce. Despite a 7am start, the atmosphere was buzzing as students gathered for what turned out to be a memorable celebration.

One of the highlights of the morning was the breakfast provided by Subway Australia, whose fresh breakfast subs were a huge hit with the apprentices in attendance. The fuel was certainly needed, with plenty of activities throughout the morning including pedal-powered smoothies, music, games, and prizes that kept everyone engaged and energised.

The event was a collaborative effort between MIGAS Apprentices & Trainees, TAFE Queensland, and the Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET), with Stephen Gates and the TAFE Queensland team hosting the Street Party at their SkillsTech campus. Their continued support of National Apprenticeship Week demonstrates a genuine commitment to celebrating and championing apprentices across Queensland.

The Hon. Amanda Stoker MP joined the celebrations, showing her support for apprentices and highlighting the Queensland Government's commitment to National Apprenticeship Week. Her presence underscored the important role that apprenticeships and traineeships play in strengthening industries and the economy.

The morning also featured a strong turnout from industry exhibitors to support the event. Bunnings Trade, Bunnings, Cbus Super Fund, Flex, Milwaukee Tool Australia & New Zealand, Before You Dig Australia, DEWALT, Aptella, Simpson Strong-Tie, Master Electricians Australia, Kincrome, and TIACS all participated, providing apprentices with valuable connections to industry partners and resources.

National Apprenticeship Week, which ran from 9-15 February 2026, celebrated the role of apprenticeships and traineeships in building individuals' skills and confidence while strengthening our nation's industries and economy.

The Acacia Ridge Street Party was a highlight of the week, bringing together apprentices, employers, training providers, and government in a shared celebration of Australia's future workforce.
